RANT 2: NYRFACE! and tazers...

What is RANT 2: NYRFACE!?

1. a scathing and hilarious one-man show written & performed by Kevin Postupack, KRONOS's benevolent dictator and poet laureate of the demimonde
2. politics; guerilla poetry; a skewering of sacred cows
3. an all-out assault on hypocrisy, apathy, and our temporary culture
4. boob juggling

Mr. Henry Rocks KRONOS!

Italian Alternative Rocker Comes to KRONOS!

"Mr Henry" (aka Enrico Mangione), an original alternative rock musician from Varese, Italy makes a special appearance @ KRONOS on Wednesday September 12th @ 8pm! His mom somehow discovered our website in Italy and when she told her son he checked us out and loved the gallery and wanted to perform there! His deep gravelly voice has been compared to Tom Waits and his albums have received fabulous reviews in Europe, and now he comes to KRONOS direct from his tour of the east coast of America. His originals are moody and dark and unlike anything you've heard (although he does do a cover of the Sex Pistols "Anarchy in the UK"!). This is greatly exciting, showcasing an up-and-coming international performer, and establishing KRONOS as a venue for cutting edge artists from the world over.

They STILL Don't Get It!

In 1911, the photographer Alfred Stieglitz invited a young Pablo Picasso to his (Stieglitz's) gallery "291" in New York City. It was to be Picasso's first one-man show. New York critics were outraged, and called the upstart Spaniard's work among other things, "the craziest emanations of a disordered mind, the gibberings of a lunatic!" The works were priced at between twenty and forty dollars, and only one sold to the public--a drawing Picasso made when he was 12. "I was ashamed for America," said Stieglitz," to have to return them all." The entire collection of early Picassos could have been had for $2000. Stieglitz even went so far as to approach the director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, asserting that it would be wonderful to keep all these paintings together in the States. The director responded that "such mad pictures will never mean anything in America" and he politely declined.

On Saturday night February 23rd, 2008 it was like witnessing the reincarnation of Jim Morrison and The Doors as PABLO & THE DREGS rocked a packed house at KRONOS with the audience screaming for more! Performing all originals--heavy rock with intricate rhythms, inspired playing, and passionate vocals--everybody there thought that the band was already famous. They sounded that good! Here are some images of the event!
